Every day, Newberg residents rely on Oregon’s highways to get to work, school, appointments, and the places that make our community feel like home. Now there’s a chance to help decide where the state puts its transportation dollars next.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has released its first-ever Capital Investment Plan for public review, and the agency is inviting Oregonians to weigh in through an online open house that runs through November 2.
Why this mattersOregon has far more transportation needs than available funding can cover. Aging infrastructure, safety improvements, and other critical projects all compete for limited dollars across the state highway system. The Capital Investment Plan gives ODOT a consistent way to identify and prioritize investments based on statewide transportation goals, system needs, and the funding that’s actually available.
The draft plan includes 54 proposed projects across the state. One example is a section of OR 8 through Hillsboro, which supports an average of 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles every day.
How you can take partThe online open house makes it easy to get involved from home, on your lunch break, or on your phone. When you visit, you can:
- Learn how projects were evaluated and selected
- Explore all 54 projects on an interactive statewide map
- Take a closer look at eight highlighted projects
- Share feedback on the draft portfolio or on individual projects
