The Capital Engineering Department is responsible for planning and improving the City-owned infrastructure. Services include assistance with master planning, project management, design and construction, information gathering, analysis and storage, and the inspection and regulation of private development.

Our mission is to provide professional engineering, inspection, and administration services for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the City's infrastructure.

River Street.png Other Roads Projects - River Street Update
There has been considerable progress made towards a complete re-build of South River Street; a project that will cover two biennia. First, the Newberg Urban Renewal Agency (NURA) has accepted the recommendation from their Community Advisory Committee that two sections of River Street would make great candidates for early NURA public improvements. Waste Water Plant Upgrade - Copy The City of Newberg is weighing up its options for a major upgrade to its waste water treatment plant to include a potential new Oxidation ditch. This is the critical plant that deals with human waste for our growing population. Click here to learn more.
   
Active Project
Ongoing construction or improvement projects funded by a city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) include infrastructure upgrades such as road repairs, water, sewer, and storm-water system improvements. These Projects are considered essential for maintaining and enhancing public facilities within a community, ensuring the quality, safety, and functionality of public infrastructure in accordance with the City Public Works Design and Construction Standards, and the City Municipal Code.

Stormwater Management

Storm-water runoff from impervious areas like roofs, parking lots, and paved streets can contain pollutants that harm water quality. We maintain and repair the city's stormwater network. This includes street drains and underground pipes that are separate from the sewer system.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.
