The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is the system that provides the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) the ability to operate in an automatic mode. The current Siemens PLC, installed in the late 1990’s with discontinued parts this system reached its life expectancy.
WWTP relied on third-party PLC support, and their production could stop at any time, rendering the City’s wastewater treatment system outdated. To address this issue, the City completed the pre-purchase of a set of brand-new and preferred equipment parts. The PLC system, designed by a consultant (HDR), and replaced and reprogrammed the complex electronics by Green Power Electrical Contractors Inc. The project was fully completed in 2025.
