City of Newberg Asks Residents: How Can We Do Better?
(NEWBERG, OR) - City news isn't always easy to follow. Zoning hearings, budget cycles, road closures, emergency alerts...it can be a lot to keep up with, and not all of it comes with a clear explanation of why it matters to you. As the City of Newberg's Public Information Officer, that's something I think about every day.

My job is to make sure you have the information you need about what's happening in your community, but I can only do that well if I know how you actually want to receive it. That's why we're asking for five minutes of your time.

The City of Newberg has launched a short, anonymous community survey as part of our Community Engagement Strategic Plan update. It's a straightforward set of questions: Where do you currently get city news? What platforms do you use? How often do you want to hear from us? And what gets in the way of staying informed, whether that's language barriers, internet access, or just not knowing where to look?

There are no wrong answers. In fact, if you've ever felt confused, left out, frustrated, or just plain lost when it comes to city communications, your feedback is exactly what we're looking for. Newberg is your city, and you deserve to feel like it. That starts with good communication.

All responses are anonymous, and we'll share a report summarizing the results later on. We do ask for information like the nearest cross street to where you live, and we'll use that information to look at who is responding from what areas. That way we can reach out to those who we haven't heard from later. Your input will directly shape how the City communicates with residents going forward, from the tools we invest in to the languages we write in.

The survey is available in English at https://bit.ly/cesurvey2026 and en Español a https://bit.ly/cesurvey2026esp. It should only take about five minutes to complete. It will be open through the end of April 2026, so you have plenty of time to think about how we can best serve information to you before you respond.
