The Planning Commission has two roles. It is an advisory body to City Council on land use policy, and it conducts public hearings and makes land use decisions on certain types of land use applications following Newberg Municipal Code and Oregon State land use requirements.
The Planning Commission has seven citizens, one student representative (a voting member) and a designated City Councilor (a non-voting member). The Commission meets on the second Thursday each month. Regular scheduled meetings are held at the Newberg Public Safety Building at 401 E. Third Street.
The City of Newberg welcomes public input during their Planning Commission meetings. In addition to testifying on public hearing items, any person may address the Planning Commission about items not on the agenda during the time set aside for public comment.
