Traffic Citation FAQ

What do I need to qualify to sign up for traffic school so I can get my citation dismissed?
  • You must have have a clean driving record as of the last two years with no citations.
  • You cannot be a commercial driver's license holder.
  • You must not have taken a traffic safety class within the last two years for another citation.
How do I sign up for traffic school?
In Person
Visit our front office in the lobby of the Public Safety Building between 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. You must appear on or before your court date to inquire about traffic school.

Over the Phone
If you are unable to appear in person, you can give us a call during our phone hours at (503) 537-1203. You must call on or before your court date to see if we can make other accommodations for you to sign up.
I need more time to fix the issues I was cited for. Can I get a reset?
If you were cited for a traffic or code violation we can do a courtesy two week reset. You will get a reset letter in the mail. The reset letter will be sent to the address listed on the citation. Please call the court at (503) 537-1203 if you have an address change.
I can't make it on my court date. Can I reschedule?

If you were cited for a traffic or code violation we will do a courtesy two week reset. You will get a reset letter in the mail. The reset letter will be sent to the address listed on the citation. Please call the court at (503) 537-1203 if you have an address change.

If you have already received your two-week courtesy reset, you will need to appear to that reset date and ask the Judge for more time.

How can I pay my citation?
To pay your citation, you can call during phone hours to pay in full over the phone with a Visa or a Mastercard, on or before your court date. If you need a monthly payment contract, you will need to appear in person, on or before your court date, to sign a contract.
The Officer said that I received a fix-it ticket. I fixed the issue. What do I do now?

You will need to show proof of the fix to the court, on or before your court date. There will also be a fix-it fee to be paid in full at the time of showing proof, to get the charge dismissed. You may also request a 30-day payment contract for the fix-it fee.
